In MLB The Show 26, hitting the field at the historic Polo Grounds in Road to the Show (RTTS) is unlike any other stadium. Its quirky layout makes for a wild mix of offense and defense. The foul poles are tiny, around 258–279 feet, while straightaway center field stretches all the way to 483 feet—making it a true hitter’s and fielder’s challenge.

How to Unlock the Polo Grounds

Before you can enjoy RTTS games here, you first need to unlock the stadium through Diamond Dynasty:

Requirement: Record 30 triples in any simulation-style mode—this includes RTTS, Diamond Dynasty, or standard single-player games.

Program: Once done, the Polo Grounds is automatically added to your collection via the My Legacy program.

Usage: After unlocking, you can set it as your home stadium in Franchise mode, or you might play there during scheduled RTTS series if your team is assigned the Polo Grounds.

Gameplay Impact in RTTS

The Polo Grounds isn’t just about aesthetics—it changes how you play:

Speedsters’ Paradise: The massive center gaps make it easier than usual to score triples and inside-the-park home runs. Fast players can really take advantage.

Power Hitter Trade-off: High fly balls to center often die in the deep outfield, meaning long home runs are rare straightaway. But the short foul lines make “porch” home runs much more common if you can pull or push the ball down the line.

Fielding Strategy: Center fielders need speed to cover “Death Valley” gaps. Defensive shifts, like playing your CF deeper, are often necessary to prevent extra-base hits.

Pro Tips

If your RTTS character is a hitter, aim for triples early—it not only helps unlock the Polo Grounds but also trains you to read the unique field dimensions.

For speed-focused players, practice base running—you can turn routine singles into doubles or triples more easily here.

If playing CF, study the outfield angles. The odd shape means balls can ricochet off walls unexpectedly; anticipate the unusual bounces.

The Polo Grounds may be a “throwback” stadium, but it’s also a strategic playground. Master its quirks in RTTS, and you’ll dominate both offensively and defensively while enjoying one of baseball’s most legendary venues.
