有关政治方面的英文惯用语
现在正值美国的选举日, 过去几周美国总统候选人都卯足了劲投入选举之中. 同时我们也在电视及收音机丶候选人的竞选演讲及跟朋友丶同侪中聊天中听到了一些政治惯用语,今天我们就来分享其中的一些.
-to put your foot in your mouth: 因説一些侮辱丶伤害性的言语而造成后悔.
Ex:"I really put my foot in the mouth when I said that."
举例：我真的很后悔説了那些不该説的话.
- to throw your hat in the ring: 正式加入竞赛.
Ex:"I would really like the chance to throw my hat in the ring with those candidates.
举例：我对于这次参与选举获胜充满信心.
-the buck stops here: 决策者丶负责人.
Ex:"Although I appreciate your advice, the buck stops here and I need to do what I think is right."
举例：很感激你的建议但我身为一个决策者我必须做我认为是对的决定.
-you shouldn't count your chickens before they hatch: 未成事实前不可完全依赖或者相信.
Ex:"I'm feeling really confident, but I know I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch.
举例: 我很有信心,但是有时煮熟的鸭子也会飞了.
-to be stuck between a rock and hard place: 在一个艰难的処境或需做一个困难的决定.
Ex:"This is awful ....I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place trying to figure out what to do.
举例：真糟糕...对下一步该怎么做有些举棋不定.
-to make a mountain out of a mole hole: 小题大作,把小问题弄得像个大问题.
Ex:" I can't stand it when these protesters try to make a mountain out of a mole hole."
举例：我无法忍受这些抗议者的小题大作.
